twig boy cooks – applesauce (for a very good reason)
Yes, it’s a strange one but it’s a fairly key ingredient to another wizard treat that is coming soon. More on that at the bottom of the page. Also, it’s applesauce, it’s great.
Ingredients. Preparation – 5 minutes. Cooking time – 22 minutes.
8 apples, I used golden delicious, I would also use Granny Smiths (she was out)
2 strips of lemon peel
3 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup brown sugar (add according to taste)
1 cup water
1/2 tsp salt
ONE. Go all medieval on your apples and peel, core and quarter them. Pretend they have committed treason if it helps.
TWO. Put them, and everything else into a smallish sized pan with a lid. Boil, then simmer until the apples are tender and cooked through.
THREE. Remove the lemon peel and mash the apples into mush. The level of mashing you give them will depend on your favoured applesauce texture.
FOUR. Allow to cool and store in the fridge for up to 1 week, maybe 2.
TWIG BOYS TOP TIP – CONSIDER ADDING EXTRA SPECIAL INGREDIENTS LIKE GINGER OR CLOVES FOR AN INTERESTING FLAVOUR HIT.
